How can I keep my basic work software totally protected from threats from the Internet?

Since my work software (Trados 6.5, Trados 7.1 and SDL Trados 2006) seem to have problems with the Microsoft updates, I have been advised that the least expensive solution would be to have my two computers connected in a network but only ONE of them connected to the Internet. Thus, in one computer I would be able to work with my Trados software without any conflicts with the Microsoft updates. The other computer, connected to the Internet I could use to do my research and to send my jobs out. Can anyone give me an opinion on this matter?

How can I keep my basic work software totally protected from threats from the Internet?
Totally protected? Yes, the only way to be totally protected from Internet threats is to have a computer not connected to the Internet. Be sure also, that reports move only FROM the "Trados" computer TO the Internet computer. If you want total protection for the Trados computer, you have to assume that the Internet computer will have viruses, and you cannot move anything from that computer to "Trados."
Reply:the problem is that it has problems with updates, so don't run the updates.

by doing so you may leave some vulnerabilities opened, so make sure you are behind a firewall.

Software firewalls like zonelabs can also help you partition your network so you can only access your other computer, but not the rest of the world.
